The tragic death of a friend could have a profound effect on a teen's life!
When my 22-year old son returned to college after the Christmas hiatus, the teacher asked each person in the class to recite an incident or event that occurred in their lives prior to the 12th grade that had a profound effect on his or her life.
One student reflected on a car accident in which he and his best friend were involved.
A drunk driver apparently hit the vehicle in which they were traveling. The story went something like this, "When I regained consciousness, I saw my best friend being loaded into an ambulance in a bodybag. I was wearing my seat belt and he was not. I know that if he had been wearing his, he would still be alive. I wish I had made him wear a seat belt."
The moral of the story? -
"Friends don't let friends drive without a seat belt!"
