| Infant Seats: Infant seats should always be rear facing and at a 45% angle. The harness straps should be at or below shoulder level. The chest clip should be even with your child's armpits. If your infant seat has a carrying handle always put it down when securing your child in the vehicle Forward Facing Seats: Once a child is at least a year old and over 20 pounds they can be moved to a forward facing seat. Most convertible, forward-facing seats should have the harness located at the top slot of the seat (be sure to check the seats manual to be sure) Booster Seats: Once your child is at least 40 pounds you can move to a booster seat. Belt positioning boosters must be used with the lap and shoulder belt (never use a booster seat with a lap belt only). Make sure the belt fits low and tight. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Photo Copyright Joe Raedle / Getty Images |
