Tips for Properly Installing and Seating Your Kids in Car Safety Seats -
You should always seat kids 12 and under in the back seat.

• Read your car seat instruction manual and vehicle owner's manual carefully for proper installation guidelines.

• Check the sticker on the side of your car seat to determine if your child meets the listed guidelines

• All car or booster seats should be locked tightly against the vehicle seat with the seatbelt - it should not move more than one-inch forward or side to side.

• On all seats the harness on the car seat should fit tightly on your child. Adjust the harness so you can only fit one finger underneath the straps at your child's chest.

• Infant Seats: Infant seats should always be rear facing and at a 45% angle. The harness straps should be at or below shoulder level. The chest clip should be even with your child's armpits. If your infant seat has a carrying handle always put it down when securing your child in the vehicle

• Forward Facing Seats: Once a child is at least a year old and over 20 pounds they can be moved to a forward facing seat. Most convertible, forward-facing seats should have the harness located at the top slot of the seat (be sure to check the seats manual to be sure)

• Booster Seats: Once your child is at least 40 pounds you can move to a booster seat. Belt positioning boosters must be used with the lap and shoulder belt (never use a booster seat with a lap belt only). Make sure the belt fits low and tight.
